2018 Programs

  • January: Terrie Townsend presents: Planning for 2017 and the Budget. Budget review and Terrie from Bill's Sewing will answer your burning quilting questions.  Bring UFO's for help.
  • February: Burke Guild member Patsy Caraway presents a trunk show that will inspire us with her beautiful quilts that have won many ribbons.  Patsy will also present information on needle turn applique.​ 
  • March: Quilt Show Judge Lorraine Covington presents "How to Complete to Compete": Lorraine will help us understand the judging process for the quilt show.  Even if you are not entering int he show, you will learn how to make your quilt look professional!
  • April: Vickie Clontz of Annie's Keepsakes presents "Take a Walk on the Wool Side":  Vickie's love of fibers, wool, and folk art is apparent in each of the 100+ patterns she has designed.  Vickie's unique projects have appeared in magazines across the nation.
  • May: Eneke Thomas presents silk and art quilt wall hangings: Art quilts by Blowing Rock artist Eneke Thomas will amaze and inspire you.
  • June: Joint Meeting @ 6pm-Covered Dish. Log Cabin Challenge Quilts. Fiber Artist Grace Errea presents "The Value of Value": Grace is a self-taught artist and her work has been recognized for exceptional primary use of values and secondary use of color.  Her focus on value makes it easy to create inspiring botanicals, landscape scenes, and portraits in any color.
  • July: Tabletop workshops highlighting various quilt techniques: Perfect techniques with the help of fellow members.  Workshops on better binding, quilt sandwiching, speedy triangles, and more! 
  • August: Katherine Lile presents "Don't Throw Away Those Scraps!": Katherine of The Mountain Thread Company in Blowing Rock will show us great ideas for getting the most out of our fabrics.  She has stash-friendly patterns and fun ideas to motivate and inspire you.
  • September: Work on projects for the Lily Boutique and show. Bring our sewing machine and supplies to help us finish projects for the boutique and show.
  • October: The Quilt Show is FINALLY HERE!!! Finish working on the show @ Hickory Metro Convention Center.
  • November: Joint Meeting @ 6pm.  Susan Brubaker Knapp presents "Point, Click, Quilt: Turn Your Photos into Fabulous Fabric Art!"  Fiber artist, designer, author, teacher, and Quilting Arts TV celebrity, Susan Brubaker Knapp will focus on tips for taking better photographs and then turning them into art quilts.  This detailed look at the process of tracing, enlarging and drawing, piecing, positioning, fusing and thread sketching the quilt will inspire you to turn your photos into fabric art!
  • December: Joint Meeting @ 6pm - Covered Dish and Celebration of a show well done!
